These will be addressed and possibly improved upon in future updates to M4
- The current maximum terrain generation size is limited to 8km x 8km.
- A minor UI bug still exist which causes the preview mesh to turn flat or show the wrong resolution on rare occasions, given certain circumstances. To correct this, simply hit the “Back to Defaults” button, or close the MapMakerInterface and reopen it.
- Currently supported Epic recommended, landscape resolutions:
505 x 505
1009 x 1009
2017 x 2017
4033 x 4033
8129 x 8129 - It is currently required that the LandmassPreviewMesh (what the Terrain Generator uses to preview the changes) be at location 0,0,0 on the map in order to work effectively. Once the terrain is built, for convenience/visual reasons, simply remove this preview mesh from your game world as it’s no longer needed.
- Having “Edit Layers” enabled on your landscape does not currently work while using the Terrain Generator. You will have to temporarily disable Edit Layers while using the Generator Interface. After you’re done creating your landscape with the Generator, Edit Layers can be enabled again and used with your newly formed terrain without any issue. In the upcoming V1.6 update, a layering system utilizing Edit Layers will be added to the TG.
- The Terrain Generator is not currently supported on older versions of Windows due to Direct X 11 missing features (Windows 7 and older). MacOS support is also not possible for the Terrain Generator as Macs do not fully support Epic’s Landmass Plugin, which is utilized by the Terrain Generator.
Already generated landscapes will work on any OS as they use a standard Landscape Actor as the end result, but they will need to be generated on a Windows PC first.
